On & On......

The blue moon is to surprise
The eye cuts into the leather
Clouds wavering with belief
Tough rocks there to curve and bruise

Mud tends to ruin the important
Belief is to tough to kiss
Slagging to bite the softness
Dog is wavering to say.

Red leather to ruin the moon
Cool blue to cut belief.
The importance to kiss the eye.
The frog to sharply surprise

English 1102......

This semester has been another great experience for me. English has always been my low point. I hate writing papers but I’m somewhat decent at it. I’ve learned more about writing these past two college classes then I ever did in high school. Now that I know how to write, I enjoy it little more than I did.

This semester we did a research paper, two other essays, and read stories from drama, poetry and short fiction. Short Fiction stories were my favorite. They seemed to be a little more understandable than any other material that was read. Poetry was my least favorite. I’ve never actually liked poetry because I don’t exactly understand why the whole thing doesn’t rhyme. It’s also very hard to understand when not everything means the same. The research paper was also a lot of fun surprisingly. I like to do research and find out about a topic a little deeper then the obvious. I do wish we could have picked our topic for the research paper because food wasn’t really anything that interested me. I’m a better writer when I can relate and engage in the topic.

This semester was my favorite due to the discussions. Our class as a whole respected each other’s opinions. Our class was very social and that’s what makes the class a little easier.  MY favorite class discussion was women’s rights month. It got just a little intense but it was great to see all the opinions shared. The class discussions were always interesting and there was never a dull moment in class. With this class being the last of my day, I can say I never absolutely dreaded going to the class.

The teaching styles were awesome. I learned a lot with taking Lindberg for 1101 and 1102. I like the way the research paper came first and we were able to concentrate just on that for a few weeks. I also liked the way the drama, poetry, and short fiction was introduced.  The drama and poetry paper were very difficult.

Overall, I loved the class and loved being able to take the same teacher for both English classes.

How far would you take it ?....

A week ago, in the library, a group of students traveled from Douglasville to enlighten our eyes to the commemoration of women’s history. With it being women’s history month, the speakers educated us with women who brought us through the hard times when women were not declared as equal to men. These women brought life to a new world, where women are finally somewhat considered equal in aspects.

However, after this meeting, it was brought to English class and debated on. The first video shown at the beginning of class really made me realize how much women have to fight for their place in the world. As young adults, we do not take time to look at other aspects of life and how the country views women. Women should look up to every woman in history that brought women to a much higher level of values. Because of those women we have so many rights that are equal to men. Examples are military, hard working jobs, and congress to just name a few.

The class, of course had all different views. The men were attacked as soon as they spoke, but not out of protecting women. I think it was more so because guys pointed out only views that they are equal in doing. As in television commercials being nuder then appropriate. Both genders are to blame for this. Parents were also brought up. I do not think parents are solely to blame. Parents cannot be with their children every waking moment, as much as some would like. Parents cannot attend a sport, and school with their child. There has to be some independency. Decisions are made by a person, and whether it’s a smart choice or bad choice it depends on the person. People are responsible for their own actions, and know between what is right and what is wrong.

Everything finally breaks down to education, as Mrs. Lindberg stated in class. Education is the key goal to success. How much education people intend to gather, is upon them. Being educated can take a person farther than having all the money in the world. Education gets you more money in the end. Education to me means having a set goal and accomplishing it because of the education contained. Everyone has their own opinion and point of view. As women, we have to stand up for ourselves to a certain extent or we will be pushed aside and fall back to where it all started. Back tracking to history is something that should not be a resort. Women just have to have a good education and civilized mind set to overcome having to fight for a place in the world.
