Hypocrisy; Highest Point

Hypocrisy is usually defined as someone who pretends to be better than they are. Also it is defined as someone who says one thing and does the opposite. Hypocrisy happens every day, some are just blinded by what is really true. At some point in life, everyone has been a hypocrite and has been a victim of hypocrisy.

The most common thing I see hypocrisy exposed in, is when I go to church. I go to a church that has 1000 plus every week. Some people I see often at school or out on the weekends. I also have access to most of the young people’s face book who attend my church. There’s a difference in living a Christian life on Sunday, then the one you live during the week and weekends. Half of the young people lie about who they truly are, or are just scared to reveal to their weekend life that they are a Christian follower. I sit right behind the youth group at church. It’s really amazing to read one of their face books on the weekend and then on Sunday morning they post a bible verse. Not saying that it’s bad to post a bible verse, just stating how hypocritical these so called “Christians” are. Young people in high school, I think struggle with this church hypocrite statement the most. I think its part of being young and making sure you are the cool one everyone likes to hang out with, and then live your real life on Sunday but keep it on the low so no one finds out. This just goes to show adults need to engage on what their kids are doing rather than just letting them do what they want because they think they can trust them.

This is one of the many hypocrisy stories I have and still experience.

Free Venting..:)

Since we have a free writing this week, I think it’s time do a little venting!

First, I’ve never been too good at remembering dates in history and what not. History classes have always been my low points. These classes require me to study my butt off for hours but I always manage to pull through and pass. But my teachers have always well prepared me for what a test will be like and teach us the information that will be on the test! This semester, political science is kicking my butt. I can study for days and still not pull a B on a test. I’ll never understand my teacher and why she has to be such a rude person! I’ve had rude teachers before but she is beyond the rudest. It seems as if she is just there to get money and who cares if you fail or pass because she still is getting paid. I think if a teacher gets so many kids to withdraw, something should be looked over! And if you test a student, it should be over the material you teach!!! It seems as if she just gets up there and blabs about anything she wants, and then tests us over anything she wants. Welcome to nasty, rude college professors! However, not all college professors are like this. She happens to be my second rude college professor I’ve had. Guess you have a pick of good ones then just one little nasty one ever so often.

Now for the greatest part of this month, my nephew started baseball!! It’s his first year, and he’s 6. I’ve never been able to watch baseball on TV but I love going to watch him play. They are so cute and funny to watch at this age.

This month has been a tough one, but watching my nephew play baseball has made this month worth getting through. Now that I was able to vent makes this month even better also. That’s the first time I was actually able to say everything I needed to say.!

Fences;Racism

In the story Fences, August Wilson creates a character, Troy Maxson, that is beyond the need of help. It seems that Troy hates the world and is just waiting for death to come knock at his door.  Troy does not show compassion or love towards his boys and very little towards his wife Rose. Troy is a very blunt character. He does not sugar coat anything. In this story Troy uses the word “nigger” a great deal. I do not think Troy uses this in a prejudice way. Troy himself is a black and I think he has a habit of using the word very consistently. In the story Troy calls his brother, his friend bono, and his sons all “niggers”. I think it’s just Troy’s figure of speech. However, in the story Troy does say things towards whites and calls them those white people and white boys, but I do not think he says this in a prejudice way. Troy does believe that being white does give you a better chance at sports and that if you are black you better be twice as good as a white boy to play. I think the time that this story takes place, racism is still a problem but I do not see Troy as being racist toward black or white people. Troy is just a man that tries to work and keep food on the table and show his boys how to grow up. In this process I think Troy focuses too much on how he was and treats his boys too harshly. Racism is a problem that we still face today. Troy just seemed like an old fashioned black man that meant no harm to anybody. Even though he called himself a “nigger” and referred white people as those “white folks “I think Troy was harmless with racism. Troy was just an old fashioned character.
